Baywood Park, California
Tucked away in a corner of the Central California Coast is the community of Baywood Park. This small, quiet, and picturesque village is located on the southern edge of the Morro Bay Estuary. Referred to by the locals as the “Back Bay,” this quiet body of water is popular with people with kayaks, canoes, and sailboats.
The heart of this community is the pier at the end of Second Street. This is a very beautiful and peaceful setting for boating, bird watching, or just plain relaxing. Immediately adjacent to the pier area are the “Back Bay Inn,” the “Baywood Inn Bed & Breakfast,” and “Coffee ‘N’ Things” café. In the area also are several restaurants, and shops. Baywood Park is also home to a weekly Farmer’s Market, local car shows, and various street fairs, including “Ocktoberfest.”
The major music concert held once each summer is the “Boatzart Concert on the Bay,” and is tremendously popular with locals and out-of-towners alike. This is the only concert that we know of, that you can attend by land or by sea. The name “Boatzart” is a combination of “boats,” and “Mozart” from the original local music festival. The concert is sponsored each year by the “Baywood Navy.”
“RuthLes Productions” is proud to be the official photographer for the concert each year. Their professional digital photography captures many views of the performing band, plus the hundreds of smiling faces of the people in attendance. This combination, plus the kids, dogs, and dozens of colorful boats in this unique setting make for a fantastic concert. The resulting DVD Slideshow Video has selected tracks from the band’s music CD as the accompanying soundtrack.
Shown below are descriptions of the 2006, the 2007, and the 2008 Concert DVD Slideshow Videos which are currently available. They may be purchased through the mail, at a cost of $15 each, which includes tax, packaging, and postage. Please see “About Us” page for contact information.

Baywood Navy

The “Baywood Navy” is a unique group of people who are friendly, fun loving, and truly enjoy Baywood Park. They are drawn to the beauty of the area, and the quiet waters of the “Back Bay.” Some have boats, but many do not. Due to the shallow nature of the “Back Bay,” their motto is “We don’t sail in water deeper than we can stand in.”

The organization has no meetings, no dues, and no membership roster, and they are proud of that. The unofficial home is the “Coffee ‘N’ Things” café, where members congregate most mornings for coffee and visiting. “Baywood Navy” items may be purchased at the café, and this is also where their “museum” is located (in the restroom of the café.)

The “Baywood Navy” is community-minded, and has made numerous improvements, mainly the care and maintenance of the pier. The pier is the focal point of the community, and is also the stage for the annual “Boatzart Concert on the Bay.” The “Baywood Navy” organizes and hosts this fantastic concert each year for the benefit of the community. This 25 minute DVD Slideshow Video focuses on the September 10, 2006 concert which was held on the pier in Baywood Park, California. The featured performers at this 2006 “Boatzart Concert on the Bay” were the “Big Rock Balalaikas.” The group is composed of: Judy Sherman, Tina Granados, Walt Langford, Carl Moody, Evelyn Spencer, Andy King, Stephanie Moss, Monty Ellman, and Jim McKnight. Their music is exciting, and is best described as authentic Russian folk music. The “balalaika” is the traditional instrument of Russia.
